Germination Questions

What is the best way to store cannabis seeds?

Most important is to store Cannabis Seeds in a dry, cool and dark place. It’s best to leave it in the original packaging, so you will not get confused about the strain. If possible keep it in a refrigerator, which can prolong the live of the seeds for a very long time. It is not unusual that if stored properly they will still be viable even after 2–5 years.

What is the Germination Rate?

We guarantee a 95%+ germination rate when using proper germination methods like the Wet Cotton Method. When we release a batch of seeds, we first test 100 seeds of this batch to see if we can indeed guarantee this 95% Germination Rate.

How do I germinate Cannabis Seeds?

Paper Towel / Cotton Method: Moisten a Paper Tissue or 2 Cotton Pads and place the seeds inside, cover with two plates and place it in a dark spot with consistent temperature (room temperature). The seeds should germinate within 1 to 4 days.
Glass of Water Method: Soak seeds in non-chlorinated water for 24 hours. The taproot should become visible, if not, continue using the paper towel method. If the seeds are soaked to long, they might drown, so we recommend not to use this method for longer than 24 hours.

See more information about germination in this step-by-step germination guide.

Why won’t my seeds germinate?

If your seeds do not germinate in 5 days it is usually due to one or multiple of the reasons below. You can contact our customer Support with photos and order details, in which case we have a look at your case and see if our policy allows for a replacement shipment.

  • Germinating conditions are not good
  • Seeds have not been stored properly
  • Seeds have had too much fluctuations in terms of Climate (during transport or storing)
  • Seeds are old

In the case of Old Seeds, we recommend looking into Hydrogen Peroxide to be mixed with water, this method is believed to be a better incubator, which might do the trick in loosening the outer layer of the seed.

Can cannabis Seeds drown?

Yes, Cannabis Seeds if left too long in water can drown, they will absorb too much water. After which they will become unusable. A common misconception however is that seeds, sunken to the bottom of a glass have absorbed too much water. This can be the case, but is not a correct indicator of ‘drowned’ seeds.

We recommend to limit soaking seeds to 24 hours.

Growing Questions

What are the best conditions for growing Cannabis Plants?

Cannabis plants are very resilient plants and will do well in lots of conditions. However, ensuring correct climate makes sure you will have an enjoyable experience. The main ingredients for Photosynthesis apply: (sun)light, Air/Co2 and Water. Additional factors like nutrients are beneficial, but mainly it’s the right climate which will do the trick: Temperature & Relative Humidity.

See more information about Climate in this extensive guide about the best climate conditions for Cannabis Plants.

When is the best time to grow?

Indoors: Indoors you are the master of climate and there are no limits. You can grow all year round.

Outdoors: Typically plants transition into flowering phase when the power of the sun reduces significant or reduce to 14-13 hours of daylight/day. After which you require an additional of 8-9 weeks of flowering time depending on the plant before you can harvest them. For most plants you can harvest in September or October. The earlier you plant in the year, the more harvest you will obtain as the plant is able to grow into somewhat of a ‘tree’.

Autoflowers Strains behave differently and will flower regardless of the light cycle.

Can I prevent my cannabis plants from getting mold?

The main reason for Mold is too much Humidity or not enough Airflow. Ensure you have fans set up in your grow room and make sure Relative Humidity Decreases during the end of flowering. Also important is to keep your room clean and to have as little ‘human’ touching as needed.

For more tips, read our article on mold prevention.

How should I treat pests and diseases?

The best thing to do is to prevent pests from infesting your plant. This is done by keeping your grow room clean, keeping your plants healthy and climate stable. Apart from this you can use preventive measures like Neem Oil.

You will undoubtedly find pests like whitefly, spint or thrips at some point in your grow experience as they are quite common. Each of them typically require a different treatment. Whereas, pesticides are not your best friend, as it will alter the taste at consumation. Biological control through natural predators is the preferred method. For more, see our extensive guide on pests and plant diseases.

Why are my cannabis leaves turning yellow or brown?

The most common reason would be nutrient imbalance. Either the plant is not having enough nutrients or it is receiving too much nutrients or with an incorrect pH. When there is an imbalance, the plant cannot absorb nutrients good which will turn to more slow growth and often yellow leaves. We recommend looking into issues with nutrient imbalance this guide which will give you guidance on most of the common issues with nutrient imbalances.

What is the best way to grow cannabis outdoors?

Every grower has their own way of growing plants indoors, but also outdoors, where some people want to grow ‘trees’, and start early in the season there are still many growers who start late in the season and have more manageable plants, or growers whom decide to run multiple autoflowers strains per season.

If you want to grow a massive ‘tree’, it’s best to start sowing early in the season with enough space around it so both its’ branches and roots can spread and it’ll turn into a healthy and massive plant. Read more in our tips for growing Cannabis outdoors.

How big of an indoor space do I need to grow cannabis?

Indoors we recommend about between 4 – 10 plants per m2. You are restricted to the size of your room or tent and the size of the plant depends largely on how you treat the plant. Depending on how you treat a plant, you can fit way more, or just keep 1 plant, but make it a very big one.

Sativa Strains tend to grow taller and therefore most growers prefer Indica Strains when there’s height restrictions.

Cannabis is very resilient and allows you to control the height through different techniques like SOG. A plant grows during it’s Vegetative Phase grows, creating new leaves, branches and such. During Flowering it stretches for the first 2-3 weeks after which the plant will mainly put its’ energy into producing flowers. By keeping a short Vegetative Phase, you are able to keep the height of your plant to a minimum. Alternatively, different Techniques like Topping and SCROG allow you to be in control of your plant.

Even tiny areas can be used with a small grow tent and short strains. For stealth ideas, check our small grow space guide.

Do you have guides for growing specific Paradise Seeds strains?

All our strain feature a description as to what to expect and most of the strains offer some guidance towards how it has been grown through a Grow Report. You can find both the description and the grow report on the product page of your desired strain.
