Queen of Plants… We call her Opium. Yes, the Queen of Paradise plants is a bold claim but one we are confident to make. This 50/50 sativa/indica hybrid mix combines a majestic grow with a deliciously regal fragrance and effect.
As you would expect with our Queen, we invested much time and energy into her preparation. By the time she stepped into the limelight she had been bred over several generations, using the genetics of original classic lines; and she didn’t disappoint when she arrived. A High Times Cannabis Cup prize winner, Opium was an instant hit with the growing community.
The characteristics we channeled into Opium have created a strain with stand out qualities. The plant grows strong, with a thick stem and bushy side branches. This gives it the tools to produce BIG and heavy buds that are trichome rich.
The unique nature of Opium is derived from the extensive breeding process that contributed to this plant. The genetic code is imprinted with the best qualities of indica and sativa plants with Indian, African and Californian genetic influences. The resulting strain is something exotic and overpowering and resulted in the name (more perfume than poppy field). The result is a plant much admired by experienced cannabis growers looking for something a little different.
Aromas and Flavours
In the grow room, the odor is complex, carrying the fragrance of sweetness and fruits, with undertones that are earthy and woody. Once the buds are cut and dried, this distinctive perfume soaks through as the fragrance of the sweetness and fruity creaminess intensifies and lingers on the taste buds once sampled.
Difficulty Level: Medium
Indoors: A pleasure to work with for the indoor gardener (60 days flower time), this sturdy plant is versatile. It can be grown as a multi branch, stand alone, or in a set up that employs a Sea Of Green as it responds very well to training. Particularly impressive results have been achieved by those who use hydroponic systems, and hydro growers are big fans of its easy management too.
Outdoors: Outside, the Opium is a different story. In a warm and sunny climate it will grow more tree than bush, which makes it particularly effective for growers in southern regions. One of the qualities recognized in Opium cannabis seeds once they develop into plants is their fearless reputation when faced by threats from pests. It is a robust and resilient plant that cannabis growers in northern regions will appreciate, but those big buds need careful monitoring in the cold and rain.
Yield and Presentation
The strong bushy growth produces fat tops covered with corpulent buds, with a coat of thick shiny trichomes fit for a queen. The overactive resin production produces very oily big, fat heavy nuggets.
Indoor Yield: 450 g per m²
Outdoor Yield: 1000 g per plant
Recreational: The effect of Opium announces itself quickly with rush of all body energy that super charges the thought process and kick start creative flow. The effect is described as being very particular – one that needs to be sampled to be appreciated, so adding to the Opium cannabis seed’s reputation as being something a little bit different.
Medical: Consistently reviewed as a very useful strain for pain relief. Despite a perspective changing element to the effect, this is not a variety which induces anxiety. Relaxation qualities are also accompanied by an ability to continue about one’s daily business without problem.
Suitable for outside growing between 50º n.L. and 50º s.L., Opium cannabis seeds will produce a finish in early October outdoors (n.L.) and be ready to harvest between 8 -9 weeks indoors. Estimated yield is 450 g per m² indoors / 1000 g per plant outdoors.
