Deadly Beauty… In every fairy tale forest you will find a bush yielding forbidden fruits that combine beauty with mythological potency. White Berry is such a plant! It is a potent indica, with a quick finish time, which arrives with a unique effect that the cannabis connoisseur will savor.
This was one of our new generation strains when we released it in 2006, but it is a strain that has definitely passed the test of time and it continues to be a revelation for those growing it for the first time.
We took all the knowledge we had learned from the successes of our earlier strains and channeled it into this plant. The main ingredients came from the original lines of classic strains. The result is the closest we have come to creating the model cannabis plant.
The lineage of White Berry owes it all to the stand out qualities in the Afghan and Thai landrace strains selected for this Paradise variety and the injection of classic Dutch genetics in the form of an infusion of White Widow.
The result is a plant like no other which is renowned for its ‘complex’ nature.
As one would expect from its name, the plant grown from White Berry cannabis seeds is an aromatic melange of sweet berry fruits which comes through in the grow room.
Once dried, it is blueberry which comes to the forefront, although there are also pine notes which add to the complexity of its taste.
Difficulty Level: Medium
Indoors : White Berry cannabis seeds are a popular choice for indoor growing thanks to a very quick flowering time (7 weeks). Slender and medium sized plant with all the bud growth concentrated around her single cola. Indoor growers working in small spaces will appreciate the size and still benefit from a decent yield. With uniformity and obedience, White Berry is a firm favourite with gardeners cultivating in Sea Of Green (SOG) and Screen Of Green (SCROG) set ups.
Outdoors : Of course a plant worthy of a fairy tale forest is going to thrive outdoors too. White Berry prefers sunnier conditions, so she can show off those trichomes in all their dusty glory, but she will also grow in more northern and moderate conditions. When flowering White Berry will soon sparkle with white crystals that glisten on her colorful buds like the first frost on the forbidden forest floor.
The thick resin coating surrounding the thick and solid buds that bloom from this rather skinny plant confirms the use of the word ‘white’ in its name and the purple leaf flush only confirms its exotic nature.
Indoor Yield : 425 g per m² Outdoor Yield: 450 g per plant
Recreational: A flavorful heavy hitter, this strain is a match for any strong indica fan craving power. However, the user will also notice something special about the high effect which is happy and uplifting while at the same time relaxing . We describe the White Berry experience as ‘complex and versatile’ for good reason.
Medical: A popular choice for pain sufferers who appreciate the all day qualities of this strain, with its daytime manageability and its night time relaxation effect.
Suitable for growing outside between 50º n.L. and 50º s.L., White Berry will be ready for harvest in early October outdoors (n.L.) and in 7 – 8 weeks indoors. Estimated yield is 425 g per m² indoors / 450 g per plant outdoors
A Complex Original
There is much to be said for the ‘complex nature’ of White Berry (75% indica / 25% sativa), a term that has been attached to this plant since it was first released. A mix of Afghan and Thai landraces, with genetic stabilization provided by White Widow, the White Berry effect – revive by day / relax by night – hints at the complexity of this strain.
The rich bouquet of wild berry fruits is wrapped around a solid grow performance and an exceptionally fast indoor finish (50 days) and an outdoor harvest of early October with an estimated harvest total of 425g per m² indoors / 450g per plant outdoors. Experienced grower, Mr Power Planter, was keen to see how White Berry seeds worked out in the grow room.
Germination and Vegetative Stage
Four seeds germinated well and Mr. Power Planter placed the seedlings into two litre pots filled with Plagron Standard Mix. They thrived well under two 115 watts MaxGrow Dual Spectrum lamps and under a 400 watts Plantastar HPS respectively beginning from day 12. Then the plants were repotted again, this time into six litre pots. When Mr. Power Planter induced flowering by cutting down the light cycle from 18 to 12 hours, the four White Berry plants were moved under a 600 watts Osram NAV-T.
As stated by Paradise Seeds, their flowering reaction was very fast, indeed, with the first pre-flowers being visible after about a week. Their growth pattern also matched the breeder’s description, slender and medium in height, with a single-cola dominance. However, there were certain differences in height, one of the plants was about 25-30% taller than the other three.
During flowering, the upper foliage of the plants turned purple and red, giving them a remarkable beautiful look, all the more in combination with the tremendous layers of white resin that had built up during flowering. These four White Berry plants really deserved their “white” attribute, oozing with resin. In addition, the flower structure was impressively dense and tight, also exhibiting a high calyx-to-leaf ratio that would make harvest work very fast and comfortable. Their sweet and fruity berry perfume was a sheer pleasure to Mr. Power Planter’s nose.
With an end height of 65-85 centimetres, the plants had remained small and medium-sized, being easy to handle. Their yield was 24-30 grams, a very solid and satisfying result for plants grown from seed and cultivated on soil. Flowering lasted a little bit longer than stated by Paradise Seeds (50 days), but 50-55 days are clearly within the range of tolerance.
Smell and smoke report
Paradise Seeds promises that “White Berry’s hybridised genetics create a complex and versatile smoke, with the typical result being a crystalline sativa head high”. But the smoker should also be aware that “when smoked in higher quantities, an Indica-style body stone comes forward”. So Paradise Seeds come to the conclusion that “tokers who smoke lightly throughout the day, but want a deeper stone at night, may find that White Berry meets all their needs in one attractive, easy-growing package.” Well, Mr. Power Planter found out that all this information proved to be true. The dry White Berry buds effected a strong and long-lasting uplifting high when smoked in moderate amounts, and made him more kind of stoned when smoking a lot of them. White Berry`s taste was sweet`n fruity and somewhat berry-like, indeed, very delicious.
On the whole, once again a reliable high-quality feminized strain from Paradise Seeds. Amazing: Like all the other Paradise strains, White Berry can be grown outdoors, too, ripening already at the beginning of October under natural light. The colours must be incredible then, regarding the fancy purple and red colours White Berry exhibited even indoors…
